Welcome To A Marketing Blog For People Who Hate Marketing.
Of course, I kid. Most people don't actually hate marketing, but they hate the trend-chasing, the attribution chaos, and the ever-increasing channels they're expected to use. Most people I know who've built something successful have an inherent knack for marketing. It comes from passion and the drive to make things work. But as businesses grow and teams expand, that instinct gets diluted. Things get messy.
Most marketing content these days is either way too tactical (the magic hack for huge growth) or too vague (grow your marketing funnel). This blog lives in the middle. It's strategic but actionable. Clear but not prescriptive.
I've seen the mess and the chaos that passes for brand building. I've watched a beautiful brand story get dulled out until it's nonexistent. I've seen businesses try to make everyone their target market, which means they're selling to no one. I've seen companies spend insane amounts of budget to direct a cinematic video that says nothing. And I believe the best way to learn is through storytelling. Real experiences from the trenches, not theory from a deck.
Through this blog, I want to help bring concepts and ideas from the vast world of marketing into digestible clarity and advice. No shortcuts. No hype or hacks. No advice designed to sell you something instead of helping you grow. Much of it will be observations from my career, my life, and my experiences with friends who are founders and business owners. I intend for it to be fun, humorous, and even a little shocking sometimes.
If you're looking for growth hacks or a marketing guru, I'm not your girl. But if you're looking for strategic thinking, please read on.
I'm breaking this blog into four distinct formats. Each one tackles a different angle on what makes marketing actually work or what makes it fail.
Marketing Truths Nobody Likes
The uncomfortable realities founders and businesses avoid. The things we all know but don't want to say out loud. The stuff that's common, overlooked, and quietly killing growth.
Stop Doing This
Specific and common things that are actively hurting your brand. I'll explore practices that are outdated, overhyped, or just plain hurting. Helping define a clear brand strategy often starts by stopping the things that cause confusion.
Strategic Rants
Opinions held firmly, expressed boldly, defended loudly. Deep dives into the bigger tensions in marketing. What's working, what's broken, and what needs to shift. No hacks. Just perspective.
Founder Reality Checks
Direct, personal, occasionally awkward. I've seen amazing founders build incredible brands—and I've also seen the missteps along the way. The struggles. The pivots. The moments that change everything. These are glimpses into those stories.
This is for founders who've built something real but feel like their marketing is stuck. For people who know their brand should be clearer but don't know how to fix it. For anyone tired of quick fixes and ready to think strategically.
If that's you, you're in the right place.
So please, stick around. Read what resonates. Ignore what doesn't. And if something hits, let me know.

Notes from BB — BB is BrandBrain, my AI-powered marketing strategy engine — and this note is my way of being transparent about how I use it in my content. I believe AI is a valuable tool — but how you use it matters. You'll see this note at the bottom of every post so you always know where the ideas came from and what role AI played in shaping them.
This one is entirely Jesse. Written start to finish in her own words, her own voice, her own frustration. BrandBrain did a final pass for flow and didn't change much. Some things don't need fixing.
